Botox and dermal fillers are injectable fillers, a.k.a., injectable cosmetic fillers or injectable facial fillers, which are injected into the skin to remove the wrinkles and to give a fresh, smoother and younger appearance. Both Botox and dermal fillers do not involve any surgery as like the other beautification techniques such as Facial Contouring and Facial Rejuvenation. Although functionally similar yet there are marked differences in chemical composition and applications of these fillers.

People are becoming more and more conscious about their beauty and looking towards various surgical and non-surgical methods to improve their outlook. According to a report by the American Society of Plastic Surgery, more than 15.9 million surgical and non-surgical procedures performed in the United States in 2015, a 2% increase over 2015. Owing to the risk associated with surgical methods, people – particularly celebrities –  are resorting towards non-surgical procedures like Botox and dermal fillers to beautify their appearance and to look attractive.

Owing to the increasing demand of skincare products, it has become quintessential to study the benefits, side effects, costs, procedures and usage of these products. Two of these products – Botox and dermal filters – will be discussed in length in this articles and key differences between them will be discussed at the end.

What is Botox?

Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is a material which has been in use for medical purpose for over a century; however, its efficacy as a skincare product has been discovered recently. It is made from a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin that is made by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, an organism found in natural environment.

Botox is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions, and cosmetically to remove wrinkles and reduce fine lines by temporarily paralyzing the underlying muscles. It blocks the nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected thereby paralyzing the muscles. As the muscles are unable to move, so certain wrinkles are reduced, softened, or even removed. Botox is a popular cosmetic treatment, which does not involve any surgery, with more than 6 million Botox treatments administered each year.

Which Wrinkles can be reduced through Botox?

Botox is used mainly to treat wrinkles that are caused by the muscle movements. These types of wrinkles are called dynamic wrinkles. These wrinkles occur naturally around the eyes and mouth, as well as in between your eyebrows and become more visible with age. The horizontal lines on the forehead and cow’s feet around the eyes are dynamic wrinkles.  These lines are caused by smiling, frowning, squinting, and other facial expressions. The injections of Botox relax the muscles near these wrinkles, not allowing them to move thereby reducing the appearance of these dynamic wrinkles.

Repeated Botox injections are necessary for the continued wrinkles reductions and the process needs to be repeated after every 3-4 months. Moreover, the Botox treatment cannot be used to reduce static wrinkles such as the lines in the cheeks, jowl, and neck areas.

Precautions for Using Botox Injections

Generally, Botox treatments are well-tolerated by the body but sometimes minor risks such as headache, flu-like illnesses, bruising, and pain at the site of injection are associated with using this treatment. Nevertheless, these risks can be reduced through care. First of all, these treatments must be carried out by a professional dermatologist who has experience with these kind of medications before. Secondly, the receiver of the treatment must not use any supplement which are used to thin the blood because it can result in increased bleeding at the site of injection thereby causing the bruise. Moreover, the dose must be adjusted in such a way to give natural outlook. Therefore, the above precautions must be taken before Botox injections.

Furthermore, Botox treatments are not recommended for the people who are pregnant or nursing, have weak facial muscles, currently have skin issues such as deep scars, or have any type of neuromuscular disease.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, sometimes also called as soft tissue fillers, are the injections of a gel that fills the wrinkles and add volume to the skin. The substances which are typically used as dermal fillers are Calcium hydroxyapatite, Hyaluronic acid, Polyalkylimide, Polylactic acid, and Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (PMMA).

These fillers help to maintain shape and remove depression from the skin. With age, the face loses fat or collagen filled with hyaluronic acid and, therefore, the facial muscles start working closer. Owing to this, small lines began appearing on the face.  Dermal fillers recover the lost facial volume and can stimulate the growth of collagen lost due to the aging. First, they plump skin and gently lift it to restore collagen loss due to the normal aging process. Secondly, dermal fillers motivate the body to create its own natural collagen and restore your face to a more natural, youthful appearance. Other factor which can result in loss of facial volume include sun exposure and unhealthy life styles as well. So, dermal fillers are an effective way of reducing wrinkles and lines from the face.

What Dermal Fillers can do:

  • Plump thin lips
  • Enhance shallow contours
  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars
  • Reconstruct contour deformities in the face
  • Decrease or remove the shadow of the lower lids

Which Wrinkles can be reduced through Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers can be used to treat static wrinkles which do appear as the result of muscle movements. The static wrinkles usually appear around the mouth and along the cheeks and are the result of loss of collagen and elasticity in the skin.

Precautions for using Dermal Fillers

Like Botox, the side effects of using dermal fillers are not severe and can be eliminated through care. After injections, the temporary side effects that are quite common at the site of injection are swelling, redness, itching, bruising, and tenderness. These reactions usually appear after a few hours or within few days and can get resolved without any medication. Nevertheless, it is necessary to get allergy testing before injecting a particular type of dermal filler to avoid these kinds of reactions.

Important differences between Botox and Dermal Fillers

Although Botox and dermal fillers are used as a skincare product to cure the wrinkles and are injected into the skin without any surgery yet both of these treatments are completely different and are specific to different type of wrinkles. Important differences between Botox and dermal filler injection are enumerated as below: –

  1. Difference in Method

Botox inhibits the movements of small muscles which are responsible for producing wrinkles and lines on face and several other parts of body. Botox relaxes these muscles, paralyzing them, and removing the lines and wrinkles. Whilst, dermal fillers fill the wrinkles and lines produced due to the loss of collagen from the skin by aging, sun exposure, and unhealthy life styles with a gel.  The gel can stimulate the growth of lost collagen and give a smoother and youthful look.

  1. Difference in the Application

As already discussed, Botox and dermal filler injections are used to reduce different kinds of wrinkles and lines from the face. Botox injections are used to cure dynamic wrinkles which become visible due to increased muscle movements during our facial activity. While, dermal fillers are used to reduce static wrinkles which are visible even when your face is relaxed and making no expression.

Dermal filters are usually used to give plumping smoothening and sculpting effects such as brow shaping/lifting, cheek enhancement, nose reshaping, to mention only a few. While, Botox is usually used for reducing wrinkles and lines which appear during facial activity around the forehead and eyes. It has nothing to do with plumbing smoothening or sculpting.  The following figure illustrates the difference in the application of Botox and dermal fillers.

Figure 1: Difference in Application of Botox and Dermal Fillers

  1. Visibility of Results

Dermal filler treatments typically take 20-40 minutes and the amount of dermal filler needed will depend on volume loss and the areas you would like to restore to its natural beauty. You will see results immediately after treatment. In contrast, in the case of Botox treatment, the results cannot be seen immediately after the treatment. It usually takes few days to reduce the wrinkles because muscles movements take time to stop.

On a final note:

Botox and dermal filler injections are being used by a number of people all around the world to reduces the visibility of wrinkles from their faces and this number is increasing further. Injections of Botox and dermal fillers have become important skincare and beautification techniques. These injections are absolutely save if necessary precautions must be taken and performed on healthy people. Both of these injections are used to reduce wrinkles; however, they are used for different set of wrinkles, for different purposes, and have different procedures. Therefore, it is pertinent to understand the procedure, purposes and take precautions before undergoing the specific injection for the smoothening of specific set of wrinkles.

We hope that helps you on your anti-aging journey.

High Tea Procedures

It’s high tea time. While you are kicking back and enjoying your moment of peace and solitude, think about all the other good things you can do to refresh your skin and your body. Here are a few procedures you can do as a quick and light refresher.

Photo Facial

Let our expert aestheticians rejuvenate your face with a photo facial. Our facials are formulated for a wide variety of different skin conditions and concerns. Rid yourself of fine lines and wrinkles. Reverse sun and environmental damage. Take care of that acne. Erase blemishes.

IV Vitamin Therapy

IV Vitamin Therapy is great not only for skin rejuvenation but for the whole body. The vitamin therapy procedure injects a cocktail of different vitamins and nutrients directly into the bloodstream. It can help with weight loss, fatigue, hangovers, energy, and a number of other conditions.

Dermal Fillers

The alternative option to plastic surgery, dermal fillers are less invasive and there is virtually no downtime. With dermal fillers, you can fix a number of skin discrepancies. Treat areas such as nose, lips, chin, cheeks, even hands. Get rid of crows feet, smile lines, shallow areas, and fine lines and wrinkles.

Colonics

Cleanse your body of unwanted toxins with colon hydrotherapy. Colonics clears your colon of the unwanted waste and keeps bowels flowing properly. This alternative medicine practice can help you to have a more effective digestive system, prevent constipation, kickstart weight loss, help increase your energy, and reduce your risk of colon cancer.

Chemical Peel

This body treatment technique is used to improve and smooth the texture of your skin using a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. You can treat your face, neck, chest, back, or your whole body. This is good for acne skin, dry skin, dull skin, aging or congested skin.

Hair Removal

Our hair removal services include waxing or laser to help reveal the beautiful, youthful skin that you have. Our well-qualified aestheticians pick the best waxing products, or the laser most compatible to your skin type. Get the sleek look you seek with minimal discomfort.

Thread Lift

Considered to be the “most effective and discreet facelift ever,” this relatively short procedure has minimal downtime. Mommy Makeover Procedures

As women from all walks prepare to be showered with love and gifts this Mother’s Day, one gift that can be given is the opportunity to be refreshed and rejuvenated with a mommy makeover. Celebrate motherhood everyday. Here are some of the procedures offered at Inspire Med Spa to get your mom feeling back to her old self in virtually no time.

SmartLipo

Get rid of that stubborn belly fat or love handles with SmartLipo. SmartLipo, unlike traditional liposuction, uses a laser to liquefy fat. It is minimally invasive, and while removing unwanted fat deposits, it tones and firms loose skin resulting in a youthful firm finish. It has quickly become as popular as “lunchtime procedures,” as the whole process takes about 2-3 hours depending on areas being treated. The procedure has minimal downtime of about one to two days to which normal activities can be achieved. Full results can be seen within a few weeks and results can be permanent with proper maintenance.

Botox

Botox is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It has the ability to relax the muscles used to create facial expressions, giving a more youthful look. Whether a client is looking for a “frozen” look, a rejuvenated or youthful look, our Botox strategists can help achieve the look desired. Botox can also even be used to help treat migraines and excessive sweating. Visual effects from Botox can be seen in as little as three days and last up to four months.

Carboxy Therapy

This is the newest, simple technique to dramatically improve the appearance of skin, cellulite and stretch-marks by increasing the metabolism of adipose (fat) tissue and improving the quality and firmness of the skin. When injected into the area via a special technique, carbon dioxide is toxic to fat cells. Fat cells literally burst and are eliminated by the body. It’s safe for all skin types and since it’s a noninvasive procedure, there is no downtime.

Sclerotherapy

This is the most common treatment for varicose spider vein removal. This involves injecting a solution directly into the vein. The solution causes the vein to scar and collapse, forcing the blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed veins are absorbed by local tissue and eventually fade. Several treatments may be needed depending on size of area. Legs and arms are best treated.

Dermal Fillers

Help mom get back her youthful look with a “liquid facelift.” Dermal fillers are the alternative for cosmetic surgery and are good for plumping lips, filling shallow areas, and removing lines and wrinkles. Treat lips, smokers lines, jaw lines, under the eyes and plenty more areas. Depending on the area, it generally takes a short time to complete and has no downtime.

Wax/Laser Hair Removal

Reveal smooth, clean skin with either of our hair removal services. Our expert aestheticians only use the highest quality products on the market for waxes. And for the laser, the aestheticians match the laser to the client’s skin tone. Both results are long lasting and leaves skin looking clear and fresh.

There are a lot of other med spa services to help mom feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Such as IV Vitamin Therapy to replenish energy, rid sickness and kickstart weight loss, among other benefits. We offer a variety of spa facials to rejuvenate skin. Colonics to rid the body of unwanted waste. Being Safe with Injections

It’s 2019, and you probably feel like it’s time to do a little sprucing up. You want to take care of yourself a little better. You want that old youthful glow that you once had that’s now slowly disappearing. Considering doing cosmetic procedures to give yourself a little lift? Be wise. Make sure your doctor is very careful with handling those needles!

The World Health Organization defines a safe injection as one that does not harm the recipient, one that doesn’t harm the health care worker, and one that doesn’t harm the community. It doesn’t just have to be about cosmetic injections. It includes vaccinations and IV procedures. When you are consulting with your plastic surgeon about the cosmetic procedure you wish to have done, be sure to walk out of there with no question left unanswered. Be certain  you know all of the potential risks and decide for yourself whether the benefits outweigh them. Make sure that the plastic surgeon of your choice is Board Certified and someone with years of experience that you can trust. Take all of the precautions you need to take before signing that waiver to begin that procedure.

Lots of cosmetic procedures are considered to be safe. However, one important factor to consider is needle hygiene. Quite frequently, people like to have their procedures done in places where it’s cheaper, but the cheaper outlets are not always promising of the best and cleanest results. Fun fact: 40% of injections worldwide are administered with unsterilized, reused syringes and needles, and in some countries this proportion is 70%. This unsafe practice exposes millions of people to infections. New and sterile needles should be used for every injection to prevent skin irritation and injection-site infections. Used needles should be disposed of in a sharps container to prevent accidental sticks to other people.

These injectable fillers and IV therapy treatments are deemed relatively safe by the FDA, manufacturers, and plastic surgeons. Though good results are expected of every procedure, they have their share of possible side effects, some more serious than others. Here at Inspire Med Spa, you’ll get excellent service provided by board certified doctors with years of experience and a staff that will go above and beyond to meet whatever needs you have. We’ll take all your concerns into consideration and do the best to answer all your questions in order to make things as clear and as comfortable as possible, all before you decide to give the procedure the green light.

Consult with the best in New Jersey to tackle your health and cosmetic concerns. Your health, wellness, and safety are our number one priority. Contact Inspire Med Spa today.

Get a youthful look with Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used in the beauty industry to promote beautiful, youthful looking skin. Dermal fillers are used to treat a variety of skin issues:

  • Adding volume and leveling out the called nasolabial folds or laugh lines (deep wrinkles or skin folds that run from the nose to the mouth)
  • Making lips fuller and decreasing the appearance of the small vertical tracks found on the surrounding edges of the lips.
  • Augmenting cheeks to enhance their shape, often restoring youthful fullness.
  • Filling out dips (hollows) under the eye area.
  • Filling out scars from issues like acne or chicken pox making them blend evenly with surrounding skin.
  • Firming a sagging jawline

Benefits you can receive with this procedure:

  •  Dermal fillers help the skin to fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance.
  • No downtime from work or school- With everyone nowadays so busy chasing life quick lunch period procedures have become the norm. The Dermal Filling procedure can be done in as little as ten minutes depending on how many areas you would like to treat, and the patient is then free to resume their daily activities.
  • Using dermal fillers on your lips area can make thin lips fuller making them look sexier and plumper, while also softening the appearance of wrinkles around your mouth.
  • Using hyaluronic acid filler injections, you can reshape your nose bridge and tip to improve both your side and frontal profile. The hyaluronic acid filler is a proteoglycan similar to what is already on our skin, eyes, and joints. Hyaluronic Easily reversible, either by dissolution or natural breakdown of the body over months and has been found to be very safe for facial contouring.*

You’d Never Guess Who Used Botox & Fillers

Jennifer Lopez has had some filler help, specifically around her lips. The lips do not look unnaturally full, yet they still look great very natural looking on the skin, and you would never know.

Dermal Fillers Can Reduce the Appearance of Scars

For certain facial scars, dermal fillers can fill in the skin, soften its appearance, and give the impression of unscarred skin. The marks can include various types of acne blemishes like box scars and rolling hill scars which leave deep dents once the acne heals. Dermal fillers step in and fill the ridges in the skin making your skin become and look soft and smooth.

Dermal fillers use your skin cells, or fibroblasts, to form the protein collagen which helps to make your skin plumper and more youthful. Collagen also repairs and restores damaged skin. Skin disorders such as acne scars and wrinkles destroy your skin’s collagen, and dermal fillers help rejuvenate it.

One of the reasons people prefer both dermal fillers and Botox is:

  • The injections contain collagen as well as help the body produce more collagen by itself, in the same way, the young skin does. Collagen, therefore, intensifies the youthful effects of dermal fillers and Dysport naturally.
  • They are safe and well tolerated, with excellent results to fill the depression associated with scars. They are excellent for volume loss caused by acne scarring.

Did know that you can Lift, straighten, or make the nose more narrow?

Non-Surgical Nose Augmentation, also commonly known as Nose Filler. The best thing about nose fillers is that the results are immediately apparent, even though it is a non-surgical procedure. You do not have to go through the excruciating pain of a nose surgery which by the way feels like you got hit by a truck. Moreover, the procedure requires no downtime, and it is significantly less expensive compared to a surgical nose job. The results are excellent since the appearance is more natural and less plastic stiff looking unless you tell someone you had some work is done on your nose no one will know it will be your secret.

Nose filler varies in how long they can last, depending on whether the filler is permanent, semi-permanent and or temporary. The overall periods can be anywhere between 1 year to 2.5 years and even beyond there are records of fillers staying on for more than half a decade.

More “natural” fillers Radiesse, Juvederm or Restylane, all of which are preferred by doctors and users since they are less problematic and they are more natural and similar to what the body has.

So, in Conclusion, Dermal Fillers; are used in restoring a natural, rested, and more rejuvenated appearance. Dermal Fillers are a lot safer compared to surgery that is more expensive and less natural looking. Dermal Fillers NJ treatments are unique and tailored made to each need at Inspire Med Spa we aim to personalize our procedures to achieve maximum results. So upon evaluation with one of our specialists, we will determine which Dermal Filler is best for you to give you your desired results.
